Differences include weight, strength, torsional rigidity, costs among other things...
 
Strength is crucial. I have heard of cases of fibreglass sideskirts cracking when the car engaged humps.
 
PU is the most ideal. they bend (to a certain extent) then reform back, and is very light.

fibreglass is heavy, and crack easy.
 
PU can crack too... just tougher to crack...

Kenn: when you hit a hump going at speed anything can crack man... trust me... been there...
 
I believe they are..
