Mods for the supercharged engine..

Hi, regarding the 200K for the merc... Not exactly a beemer i noe, But im very intereted on its potential.. Im sure u all noe, its a 1.8L (1796cc) Supercharged Inline 4, which is quite pathetic really, produces 163bhp and 240nm. No choice wat, merc cant make engines.

Most of that power of course comes from the supercharger, but i hear things like changin the compressor belt etc. and an ability to increase the power by at least 35hp... Dat would mean itd be close to 200bhp!!... Which will be freakish as the engine is light being a 4 pot (well, not really)

Juz wonderin if any1 out there is pro wif a supercharger can lend me a hand on this... i also dun find many places dat deal wif this.. so will it be expensive since its not dat common>?

Oh and is there any ECU dat is universal? (sry noob)

Re: Mods for the supercharged engine..

Changing the belt won't give you the power, you need to change the pulley and belt. The smaller pulley makes the compressor turn faster and more boost is produced. You will need to tune the engine somehow to make use of the increased boost. Seeing that your MAF and ECU is set up to be able to read positive pressure, you can get away with a fuel pressure regulator without ECU tuning provided the increase in boost isn't too drastic. A dyno, before and after is a must.

???Where can i do this.. and how much does it cost do u noe/?? will it void warranty or something liddat?

Re: Mods for the supercharged engine..

got 2 frens with the exact same cars like yours.. they went with the kleeman upgrade kit.. consist of pulley n belt.. not sure about fuel pressure regulator, ecu mapping or fuel injectors tho..power increase is as what u said.. they just installed 'trottle-device' last night, and loving it!! say can play with 325 smg oo...
