Hey everyone.. i read it before somewhere but think i shoul ddo something about it only.... so if anyone knows of the problem and solution please enlighten me.

Whenever my bimmer hits 180km/h to 190km/h there is this whistling sound coming from the right side or so. Any idea? Besides acting as a free of charge limit indicator which the car already has electronically i think it is rather annoying.

My car is LHD in Switzerland so any Singapore TPs reading this, do not panic.... the AutoBahn and French highways are not near Singapore.

Thanks in advance.

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

Well, here we don't face that problem coz we do 80 -90 kph and the only whistling would like be attributed to sexy babe overtaking us in their roller blakes.. sigh.

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

80-90Km/H on the Three Letter Roads only i hope... hahaha Only dickheaded country i have come across with abbrev names for the highways... so far.

Anyway... girls on roller blades? Not my thing... hahaha... but there are always exceptions to the rule. :D

Oh well... maybe there is a whistling kettle attached to the engine... hahaha

See you all on sunday anywayz... for a short bit only but just to say hi i guess... would love to watch those taxi ride drivers zoom around...hahaha singapore should have a small car race track at sentosa or other, to let off the rackless driving rage in people. Maybe if we can abolish NS and have tekong become a road track plus rally dirt track with casinos and hotels it would be fun.... the army feries can then be recyled to transport cars for a fee.... *dreaming on*

oh one last thing... E60 M5 ROCKS! Looks like crap but it performs to what a BMW M5 Badge requires and more!!!

GERMAN CARS RULE! Italians can stick to making pasta and pizzas! hahahahaha....

Could it be juz wind noise arising from wind vs right mirror-side?

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

My car experienced whistling sound because the air intake hose is not connected properly. A leak some where in the air intake may cause a whistling sound. Probably worth a check

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

it's just wind noise. one way to cure this noise is to change exhaust.

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

i thought about it and have come up with a solution ... drink till drunk then drive... i hear less that way...hahahahahah DANG!

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

it could be that the sound filter or something from the ICE not properly tuned so u might here a wheezing sound as u speed up.
try driving your ride with the audio off and see if the sound is still there.
if yes = nothing to do with sound filter, something to do with the rubber seals or something for your doors, windows etc
if no, = something wrong with the sound filter lor, bring in to any car audio shop to do it up, simple job

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

My car also has whistling kettle sound!! But its under a different situation. It happens like 1 or 2 seconds when i step on the brakes from a speed say 80-90km/h. This sound only occured recently and it sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. Brakes pad are changed on my last servicing at PML few months back. I wonder what could the problems be. Anyone knows why? After i hear the sound, i feel that the sensitivity of the brakes seems abit weird, dunno issit just my own feeling or there is really a problem with it....

Re: My BMW sounds like a Whistling Kettle

Bros,

Need some help too.

Jux gotten my 318i from PML. Realised recently that there is a wheezing sound that intensifies with acceleration from 40km/h to 90km/h. And then it disappears after that.

Drove with aircon n radio off. to double check. And yes, the sound is still there. Previously wasnt.

Reminds me of my previous car, wheezing sound as well, but that was due to faulty electronics i.e battery failling.

Anyone can help?

Thanks
