Dear all,

My car 318i E46 is due for Inspection I service (40,000KM).

May I know is there any things that I should pay attention or request?

Thanks in advance :)
Ben.

Hi ! martmode8850.

Thanks for your reply :)

I have changed my tyres, brake pad, brake fluid before this inspection :)

Any things else?

Just tell them to do a normal oil change and change or repair anything that's under warranty. Don't let them change anything chargeable without first getting your consent. I paid less than $400 for my Inspection 1.

Bro,

Replace all the engine belts if worn or cracked.

Hi ! Stevan.

I think Inspection I will cost about S$400++ (Exclude 4 brakes pads) right?

Yes ! I will remind them not to wash my car :)

Cheers :)

Re: My car is due for service (Inspection I)

should be about S$200-250 only if juz normal servicing...including the oil change...

Brother

How to tell whether the engine belts if worn or cracked?

Can check for me? Hee Hee.

Re: My car is due for service (Inspection I)

Bro,

Of cos Can.. Let me know before you go for inspection 1.

Anyway, just to let the forumers know more.. its impt to replace worn or cracked belts... Once broke... your car will be stalled, most likely not be able to move...

But i would suggest changing belts at BVO if possible.. David will be able to tell if you need to change easily.

One more thing....your car will be there for at least 1.5 days and remember not to let them wash/scratch your car. You may want to get them to change your window units too.

Ben.
gear box oil too. very important to keep it healthy!!

Re: My car is due for service (Inspection I)

rodders, you da man... just pay S$400+ for Inspection I...

bmwsilver, if you aint worried about PML trying hard to void your warranty if you are still below 3yrs, then outside workshops will do just fine...

i just dont think PML will also try to change anything that is still within warranty although it may be due to replace... just my feeling only...

Hi ! Rodders.

Regarding window units, I have read from this forum many E46 will face this problem.

My car is 2.5 year old and so far so good because I hardly used the power window. Even for the driver side window, I prefer to open the car door to insert cash card, reason ticket etc (I started having this habit after hearing so many bad experience of window stop half way).

I will put in the request and ask PML to check all windows just for record purpose :) Hopefully, these window don't fail after the warranty over :(

Thanks for all the advices :)
Ben.

Hi ! AC Boy.

Eer....Gear box oil, my car mileage only 40,000KM, I don't think PML will change the gear box oil during Inspection I right?

Correct me if I am wrong :)

Thanks :)

Re: My car is due for service (Inspection I)

Regarding asking them not to wash your car, I'm not sure what to suggest to you to ensure that they DON'T do it. Last time I had a friend who even printed out A4 size paper with big big font saying don't wash his car and put one each of the paper on his dash and on his rear panel, visible from the front and rear windscreens, and THEY STILL WASH IT!!

Re: My car is due for service (Inspection I)

Bro.. they put a pc of paper on my dash saying "Caution, Car very LOW", but they still scratch my lower lip.. Maybe they dunno how to read from backwards...
