My ICE plans

Hi BMWSilver,

Apologies for the missed-event. I was taking part in the Finals for the F1 simulator challenge at Shaw and arrived late at 6+. Den we were in Ghostrider's ride checking out his setup till 7pm. Hence, that's mebbe why u couldn't find us.

Had a good discussion on ICE and would like to thank Ghostrider + his friend (Bernard?) for their tips. Would be heading down to Edisons to check out the 'DiamondHex' and 'CDT' speakers this week...

I would have loved to have a listen and 'open' my ears to T6's system too... Mebbe in the next meetup? My number's 98266778. I guess calling thru HP would be more efficient rather than roaming ard the carpark searching.

Look like you are going to spend an obscene amount of Money for your ICE.

As for me, my budget is still less than S$2K
I am not hardcore type but just want slightly better sound as compare to stock system.

I may even consider to do the front speaker only because I need my car boot at time for big travel bags

Your system should be there....Hong Guan systems have standard one !!

If you managed to meet my friend Bernard aka ICEMAN he might be able to help you on your system cos he is a Hong Guan customer himself.

Anyway...next round ok....must test test your system and exchange ideas. My friend would be coming to join us soon if he gets his hands on the ride that we were checking out before we came to the meetup....a 320ci.

No lah. Me on similar budget and not a hardcore too. But mebbe will hafta spend more cos me wanting to change the HU. Hence, may be just doing the front components + 4ch amps + Alpine HU first. You doing research too? What's your plans so far?

I haven't had a chance to hear the ICE in other bros' rides so I daren't say mine damn tua kong. I inherited the ICE as it came with my ride which I bought second hand.

When quicksilver asked me my sub-woofer how many inch, I also dunno. I juz know the previous owner paid an obscene amt for the ICE and I have a Macintosh amp driving my speakers and Cadence amp driving my subs. All the stock speakers were replaced and extra speakers added. I dunno how many speakers I have and even Hong Guan which set up the ICE lost touch with how many times the previous owner upgraded the speakers with them :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

Seems like you got a good deal. Funny, why didn't the prev guy rip up/transfer his system before letting go?

Coz if he ripped them off, the car less appealing and I might not have bought it lah. Also, he bought a S60R that comes with a solid factory-fitted ICE too mah. Also, he didn't wanna weigh his new ride down as he is into tracking.... end of OT

You are damn lucky man...the other time I went there can;t find him.....Sandy told me he in China...even Daimen also there now....

Hi there, sorry i did not see ur post b4 the meetup, u should have come forward to look for me...

Anyway i suggest that for that budget, u should find a good 4 channel amp (approx 1k) and 2 set of speakers, frt being the better one and a normal one for the rear and it should work under 2k.

Keep the system simple...

Anyway i suggest that for that budget, u should find a good 4 channel amp (approx 1k) and 2 set of speakers, frt being the better one and a normal one for the rear and it should work under 2k.

I think Edison is at Sim Lim Square. Check out Dai'Ichi just opposite Edison also.

Edison also has another shop in Sim Lim Towers. In fact, SL Towers has more shops selling ICE. Hence would be a better ICE 'shopping centre'. Check out the 2nd and 3rd storey also. More shops, better to bargain around.

One note to watch out when you guys buy at SLS other than Edison...some of the shops fly by nite one...sell you fake stuffs sometime.

guys, try Sim Lim Tower second floor. It is one of those shops in the middle around the escalator area. they do give good offers but you must know what you want or else the psycho you to something else. Quite competitive prices when comparing to edison audio.

For subs...consider the Image Dynamics ..IDMAx..and for novice IDQ will do. Good transparent sub, used by most competitors. Xtant also another good brand.

as e46sg mentioned, get higher RMS amps..the higher the better. Get components and sub first, then get the amps, not the other way round.
