My starter Motor kaput today

Today , my car could not start at all , no cranking sound.Spend 120 bucks to tow my e90 to my workshop in kaki bukit.No choice as my car is parked at MSCP so more ex.went to Integrated to buy the starter motor and my ws charges less than 200 for labour which is consider resonable.fellow bros,CNY coming better replace your stater motor if your mileage is more than 100000km.it will not give you any warning.

Bro, u r much better.... collected my ride less then a week after my trip bk... same problem.... paid 500+ for replacement... excluding tow... lucky my wife got AA member, tow onli $70 bucks...

The starter motor is 250 plus prevailing gst and plus labour less than 400

Lbro.i replaced my battery to a Bosch S5 2 months ago.my ws check my battery be4 replacing starter motor.battery in great shape.

Sorry to hear that bro. Was also recommended to change to S5 by outside ws but after hearing about the importance of reprogramming after battery change should it only be done at beemer specialists?

Be4 i replace my S5,i also read about the AGM battery and programing etc etc.i called to enquire the pricing for the original bmw battery frm PML ,Munich and 1of the site sponsor is at least 380 bucks or more.the S5 is only 200 bucks.my car only left 2.5 years.i can replace 2x S5 in 2 yrs if i very sway that it last only 1 year each.anyway s5 is also a good battery.u can goggle and read abt the reviews.juz my 2 cents.

Registration can be done by most site sponsors. If the AH rating is different - you would also need to code that.

Pardon my ignorance, what is difference between registration & coding? I read somewhere that charging syst need to be "told" that a new battery has been installed - is that the purpose of registration or ...?
