Oh, that's not what I meant by creating a buzz. I think the new car looks fantastic. Least controversial of the bangle cars and very nicely 'updates' the E46 from the pre-flame surface cars. A very nice bridge between the current E46 and the present 7 series (E what ah?)
What I meant about the marketing buzz was that they have 'accidently' leaked the brochure in a staged manner to let pictures of it spread like wildfire through the web and later auto magazines to artifically create some controversy and headlines before officially launching photos. If you look at their BMW movies which were big budget affairs but only launched on the web, they really are quite good at 'exploiting' the web to their advantage.
It could well be that I am reading more into the situation (in which case, there is probably some printing executive slow roasting over a fire in BMW HQ) than the reality but the end effect of this controversy of a 'pua kang' early release of the 3 series brochure is that anticipation for the car has been heightened. Of course, flipside is that E46 sales would likely taper off early....
