If they have been rooted, yes. Opens a backdoor for people to spy on you. Its not easy rooting one though. Has to be done from the device itself.

Best to go through a car hifi shop specialising in BMW. Canbus issues and all..

Canbus will be involved if you decide to use the Idrive or steering buttons to switch screen. Example from the BMW menu to Android or video in. Else, you may use the supplied button to switch among the menus.

The 4.0 touch screen quality is bad, resolution is so...blur. Anyway, cleavage is acceptable.
