BMW has introduced 1.6l Prince engine on 116i and 118i in 2011; this Prince engine N13B16,[7] based on Mini Cooper S (N18) engine. Oil filter housing is redesigned to allow longitudinal engine mounting.
Applications:
2011–present BMW 116i, F20 (136 hp version)
2011–present BMW 118i, F20 (170 hp version)
As such F20 engine has same sound as Mini S during startup from cold engine which sound goes away soon.

The turbocharger wastegate stays fully open during catalyst warm-up. The N18 motor (2012 and 2011) produces a somewhat loud and nasty rattle noise created by the rotating wastegate valve face. The noise lasts for approximately 30-60 seconds after the engine starts and is audible outside the vehicle. The noise is "considered normal."
The other noise is the direct injection.
