Hi everyone. I am in negotiation with a 1992 E36 owner also from this forum, to take over his car.

Firstly, I'd just like to know from the veterans here wat's da cost of maintenace every year assuming the car is in good condition? I wonder will I be able to drive it satisfyingly for the next few years. How often do I have to bring the car in for check ups?

These might be silly questions, but I'm really a newbie in love with this model (without understanding the problems yet), so pardon me.

Thanks in advance.

hehhe...that makes *TWO* of us fools..:),,,just got an E36 too...gong to send it to the workshop for servicing next week...:)..if u've got ur ride, wanna come along too?..:)..i'm pretty new to bmw's too... i know i love the shape of the E36..:)..

cheers!

Hi there, E36 still a great ride...lots of stuff to put on. Had mine 4 yrs now and still never fail to take a second look each time after parking the car. Strange..? also draining $$ with mods. Hope to meetup someday. What model u getting?

Thanks everyone for all the advise. I've decided to get a cheap car instead. Can't afford to use the E36 as an everyday car especially when i need to cover at least 100km a day for the rest of my working life. cheers.

Not sure whether it is your cup of tea but have you considered a nicely kept manual E30? Cos the car is older, it is mileage proof (from a resale point of view)to a certain extent and based on what I have heard, parts are really cheap. Can ask the E30 owners in this forum. And the shape IMHO is one to die for....
