Newbie- planning to get z4(used)

Hi, I am new here as I wanted advise on my desire to get a used 2004 z4. Wanted some frank advise on this and also pardon me for asking, when I test drove this car on manual mode, the car when stationary was at "M2" instead of "M1" and it actually start off at. Manual gear M2. is this normal?

you mean when you stopped and shifted to 'M' it was at M2?

yes, it's normal - helps to save fuel. and less jerky.

to shift to M1, you have to do downshift manually.

Thanku for responding. Yes, the car was at M2 when I stop my car, thou it would auto switch or down e gear automatically to M1 , like my current ride when driving on manual mode. Thus I thou e gear was malfuncting and e dealer wasn't sure either

i think by default it is at M2 for reasons quoted by earlier posts..so at traffic light, to take off faster, u can manually down shift to M1..

Normal and congrats on looking at one!

The Z4 has one of the best driving experiences ever.
(who says i'm biased? )
