Just back from the launch. Great food, Great drinks and a hella lot of eye-candy.
The car was pretty cool too, like a slightly shrunken X3 but better looking

I hear they might bring in a 6pot if there's enough interest. That wld make it even more interesting.
Here are some pictures from the event BTW

Re: PML launches the X1 in Singapore

Full compliance with the EU5 emission standard.

The youngest member of the X family.

Performance Motors Limited (PML) is setting a new benchmark in the compact segment in Singapore with the launch of the new BMW X1.

PML will offer the variant BMW X1 sDrive18i, which comes with all the features characteristic of a BMW X model and at the same time offers a new interpretation of BMW’s Sheer Driving Pleasure. This youngest member in the wide range of BMW X models stands for versatile sportiness and supreme agility, with looks characterized by self-confident elegance and modern style. Young and sporting in design, the interior combines superior variability with equally superior flexibility. In a nutshell, therefore, the BMW X1 brings together the features typical of a Sports Activity with the driving characteristics, dynamic performance and outstanding fuel economy and emission management of the BMW 1 Series.

Sporting performance and efficiency are provided all together by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder delivering a substantial 150 hp. To optimize the flow of power and the general standard of motoring refinement, the engine also comes with fully variable VALVETRONIC valve management, variable double-Vanos camshaft adjustment and an adjustment intake system (DISA).

Over and above the sporting response and the free-revving performance so distinctive of a BMW power unit, this combination also ensures efficient use of the energy contained in the fuel consumed.

The four-cylinder power unit featured in the BMW X1 sDrive18i develops its maximum output at 6,400 rpm and delivers peak torque of 200 Newton-metres, accelerating this agile performer from a standstill to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds and providing a top speed of 200 km/h.

In combination with BMW EfficientDynamics, the four-cylinder power unit featuring BMW VALVETRONIC ensures superior fuel economy and emission management at all times. Average fuel consumption of the BMW X1 sDrive18i in the EU test cycle is 8.4 litres/100 km, the CO2 rating is 195 grams per kilometre.

The higher seating position and driver-oriented design of the cockpit enhance the emotional driving experience to an even higher standard. Top-quality materials, striking surfaces and the iDrive control system fitted in conjunction with the optional navigation unit emphasize the premium character of the car.

The spacious rear compartment offers three full-sized seats, the three-piece rear-seat backrest also adjustable for angle folding down completely to increase luggage capacity from 420 to 1,350 litres.

Numerous storage boxes and compartments add further practical benefits while the panorama glass roof, which ensures an even more generous feeling of space, comes as standard. The BMW X1 sets new standards for driving pleasure in the premium compact segment. Thanks to BMW EfficientDynamics it offers the currently best balance of performance and fuel economy throughout its entire segment.

The driving characteristics of the BMW X1 are a perfect combination of supreme agility and versatile sportiness – features already borne out clearly in the design of the car’s body. The most important characteristics are the strongly contoured and sleek engine compartment lid, the striking, upright BMW kidney grille, wheel arches flared far to the outside, short overhangs, the long wheelbase, the elaborately chiseled rear end and the low rake of the rear window.

The front, sides and rear end merge smoothly into one another, strong lines creating a sleek flow of surfaces from one body element to the next. The stretched proportions of the car highlight both the sporting elegance of the BMW X1 and the modern, functional qualities of all models.

Measuring 4.45 metres in length, this five-door stands out clearly from every angle as a BMW X model. The wheel arches almost square in their contours; greater ground clearance emphasizes the robust qualities of the car.

The new BMW X1 will be available at Sime Darby Performance Centre at 303 Alexandra Road beginning 19 June 2010.

Re: PML launches the X1 in Singapore

Thanks for pics! More real-world pics? Nice, I like the 7ish head-lights.

Interesting the sDrive18i's rated power and torque are respectively 150/6400 and 200/3600. Was previously told they were similar to 318i's which are 136/5750 and 180/3250. Wonder if the sales people were wrong.
