PML servicing bring own oil and oil filter

Thought I should share this with owners whose car still under warranty and brings to PML for servicing.

I had read that PML allows for owners to bring own engine oil for service but was surprised that they allow for owners to supply the oil filter as well.

I bought my own oil ($16 per litre) and oil filter ($13) from a stockist and brought them to PML. Asked the SA if I could use my own oil filter as well and was quite surprised that he say can. So total savings was about $50 since PML charges about $33 per litre of engine oil ($140+ for 4.25L) and god knows how much for the filter.

Hi lim_ck,
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, you are right. The oil savings in terms of $$ is quite good.
For the oil filter, the price difference between PML and Golden link/Eng Soon is minimal.
So probably not worth the time and petrol money to drive down to buy separately from them. Might as well use PML's one.

You can save on the wiper fluid top up though :)

I bought the oil filter together with the oil at another stockist near my office so no loss of time and petrol.

oh ya. forgot to mention about the $10 wiper fluid! lucky my SA reminded me about that so save me some $$$.

Re: PML servicing bring own oil and oil filter

Mines a e90 LCI, My 1st servicing with PML cost me about $230.
I brought my own oil for the 2nd servicing, I was charged abt $95 for labour+filter+washer fluid. My mobil 0w40 cost me $10/qtz and e90 uses abt 4.5 bottles.
All in all i save close to $100 / normal servicing.
I'm going for my 3rd servicing tmr with my own oil again.

Re: PML servicing bring own oil and oil filter

I bring my own spark plugs and air filter as well. This 2 items can actually save quite alot! :)

Re: PML servicing bring own oil and oil filter

again my fault!!!

MA quoted me spark plug at $45 each. I did not ask which brand or type. Anyway, they say my spark plug change due only next 12K.

I bot PIAA silicone from Autobac. Specific size for E60. One set two pieces abot $145. Sounds expensive though.... i remember I used to buy Bosch wipers for my Honda at about $30. BMW cost as much as xmm to maintain.

On 14 Feb 2009, I bought a paif for my e46, $48 before GST from Eng Soon. After GST $51.36. Part number 3397 - 001 - 934. Don't play play, I got keep invoice one ok!
But I can't remember if it is original or OEM (Eng Soon's invoice never say). But definitely not replica.
