This is not new of course, engine OIL COOLER; but something to consider for maximum protection for your engine against THE ENEMY - heat. Although BMW recommend a optimal engine oil temp, I don't think s'pore climate will provide anything that will be below its optimal temperture. If any at all, it wil be higher than optimium!!

This the following write up about the Kit:

"The kit is designed to be a bolt on component that is easily installed.

As oil is the lifeblood to your engine, keeping it cool will reduce viscosity breakdown and prevent premature wear. With the oil cooler kit this is accomplished by routing the engine oil from the standard oil filter housing to an externally mounted aluminum radiator mounted below the front bumper.

To prevent high pressure losses to the radiator, large inside diameter (.50 inch) stainless steel braided hoses are used. Anodized Aluminum aircraft style connectors are used to join the hoses at both ends. To prevent damage to surrounding rubber hoses, an abrasion resistant cover is used.

When it comes time to change your oil, no special filters are required as the kit uses a standard BMW filter.

Added protection to the radiator and hoses is achieved by having the engine oil filtered upon leaving the adapter cap. This is a small but important feature in the unforeseen event that an engine fails and sends metal particles into the oil pan, thus eliminating the added cost of replacing the radiator and oil lines."

Just wanna see feedback and exchange of ideas on this topic and at the same time inform bros about this existing product! I think is great and so far no compliants with bros from the US side. Since this isn't LTA's no no,(is it?) i think it's safe to talk about.
Attached are pics for viewing pleasure.
Note the simplicity of the whole setup! Cooler also come in matt black - perfect for blending in.
Wilman, you were saying you do bring in this product right?

YOU WILL DEFINATELY NEED THIS IF YOUR CAR RUNS LIKE THIS:

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

Tried and tested.

Before: at sepang, oil temp rises within 3 laps to 120C. By 4th hot lap, 125C. Water temp gets affected due to increased engine heat. Water temp rises to 120C. By 5th hot lap, engine oil temp rises to 130C. Very no good for BMW engine. Needs 2 laps to cool back down to 115C. Which is good enough for another hot lap before you have to pit for good. Means you can never enjoy 5 hot laps in sepang.

After: Oil temp kept at consistent 115C. Water temp is also kept low as a result, at about 110C. Good for continuous hot laps up of up to 10 laps.

This kit is expensive. But it's the only kit out there that works so far. Other plug and play oil coolers that are being sold, do not work at all due to insufficient pressure routing oil into the cooler itself. Because of insufficent pressure, the entire cooler is being bypassed and ignored by the oil flow. It's as if the cooler is not installed.

SHAMELESS PLUG: I have one for sale.

10 laps? I think my boby temp will be overheated way before 5 laps, yet alone 10! :)

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

That's Mike Benvo's video is it? His ride is pretty darn fast man. Actually how do you know what your water temp and oil temp is without guages like defi etc?

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

Yep, that's Mike's ride; madman. Anyway, an expensive investment like oil cooler - definately bound to buy gauges to see results! :)

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

If you're going to be doing this to you car you probably need it too.

I timed the run in the first vid and it's 5 secs 0-100kmh!

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

Wonder if there is still space in my car to put one of these? I doubt it though... sigh

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

desmond, you should. if you track your car.

I've maxed out my speedo before, at 250kmh/150mph, also at that rev. Then imagine i had a tyre blowout at that speed. The metal gauze inside the tyre exploded inside out and i had to change to my tiny spare tyre and drive slowly back to singapore. so make sure your tyres are healthy before attempting high speed runs.

but where to put? I no space at all liao. none.

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

have you removed your fan shrouds? these extra pieces of plastics serve no purpose at all.

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

the fan shrouds help increase fan efficiency which is important in low speed higher load conditions like city driving or driving uphill, especially if the car is heavily loaded with passengers and/or luggage

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

Yo Des, The cooler is not as big as you think. Maybe can place on top of/in front of/at the back of/ staggered of/45deg of the other? ha ha. Unsightly but, who cares??!! As long as it works.........

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

you need to shift around a bit. good to place it behind your kidney grills. for that you need to remove all the fan and air duct shrouds. boh pian. if other "radiators" are in the way, custom some brackets and change hose length to fit everything there. I had 4 different types of radiators at one point , all front mounted. it can be done. All temp checks worked fine under very high stress conditions. nothing is impossible dude.

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.

Mr Mracer, tried it on your car already. Can fit. Move your oil cooler(A) up a bit and place the engine oil cooler(B) below it. Still got space left. Dont believe go see for yourself. :) Cheers.

Re: Protection for trackies and the likes.
