Resetting Service Interval for E36 - can DIY?

Hi All

I recently got my car serviced and did a top overhaul. Butthe mechanic forgot to reset the service interval to full. For the E36, can the resetting be done by DIY or you need the right equipment? If it is the latter, then I will need to go back and see my mechanic in Skudai. TIA.

its DIYable.....u need to jumper a few pins at the diagnostic connector....if ur not technical competent...i'd advise u to go back 2 ur mechanic...

just go back to the mechanic and ask them to do for u FOC....its their fault anyway rite....screw them if they try to charge u for it...haha.

how many pins u have in ur diagnostic connector?my guess is 15....if its correct...here goes....
You need to put your key into the ignitions to position two. Then take your tool and ground pin 7. You do this by taking the pin side of your new tool and plugging it into pin seven. Then take the banana clip and connect it to a good ground. This would be any bolt that has not been painted. Ground pin seven for (3) three second and this will reset your oil service light. For a service inspection do the same thing but ground pin seven for (12) twelve seconds.Did u do this ersalle?....hope it helps...gd luck

Already done that on Raydi's ride, i have no problems in resetting on my E30. Its just that on Raydi's car, his service interval refuse to reset even after more than 12 secs, almost a minute. All the pins connected are correct at that time. My E30 is using the same type of connector as the E36 and the only difference is the DME. But that is not important, the pins for resetting service interval are the same. Somethings not rite with his grounding i think.
