Re: Roof cotton linning

This is usually a simple, 2-3 hour job to remove the old roof lining and replace with new one (not original, but good enough, with a couple of choices in colours and type of lining). I did mine in Malacca, cost RM200 for whole job, materials and labour.

Re: Roof cotton linning

good day all.

i had the same problem too in my old e36--the ceiling liner began to drop in the middle until it became unbearable since i had to tilt my head a bit sideways to drive!

brought it to a local dealer (philippines) and the service advisor's explanation was that the glue used by the factory isn't meant for our tropical conditions so the humidity eventually works its way into the glue. they quoted PhP 12,000 to replace the entire ceiling, not just the cloth but even the mold itself.

i got another quote by an upholstery specialist at a third of the dealer's quote so i brought it there instead. his explanation was the same--the factory glue won't hold up since we're in the tropics.

i hope the linings on the new cars last longer.
