Took over an used 6 years old F30 series, mileage is about 150k. Having a smelly cabin issue since day 1. So far, I have done aircon flushing (which solved the smelly air-con issue), interior leather care/polishing and sanitising, however, the original smelly cabin issue was not able to solve. My kaki suggested me to throw away the original BMW floor mat/carpet which has not been changed by the ex-owner. Before I do so, I am seeking advice if there is any workshop who provides solution on removing cabin odour smell issue, please

Thank you for your advice

Cheers!

Have you tried changing the cabin filter?

Do a leather cleaner and conditioner

Yea. This might help too. And sometimes there might have been spillage in the cabin, so doing a thorough cleaning on the foot wells might help. But best if you could pin point the source of the smell and work from there.

Smell in the cabin before you start the car and aircon or only when aircon comes on ?

I have done leather cleaning and conditioning, but it did not help to improve the smell. I am not using any air fresher in the car also.

what smell is that? Curry? Maybe previous owner likes to eat prata in his car. Or the smell of old dog? I had an ex-neighbour who kept a smelly old dog and the stink was so horrible that I can smell it from 30 metres away and the scent lingered!

I have similar problem before. Did everything needed but slight improvement. In the end changed the carpet and it goes away. I should have remove the carpet 1st and save all the cost.

Yea then the smell is in the headliner and carpet then. Take it to a detailer that does that or buy the carpet spray cleaner from autobacs. Remove all the mats spray vacume and put in the sun. Then do the same for the floor carpets in the car. Headliner as well.

Leave the car under the hot sun for a couple of hours. And if you really want to keep the carpets, do the same.

Thanks for all the advices/suggestions, I will change out the carpets to try out, update the outcome in due course. Cheers!
