Servicing

Hi JHLim,

A couple of things to look out for with the warranty on the brink of expiry, I'm not sure what kind of mileage you have clocked on your ride but with approximately 30,000km on mine I've had the following parts changed under warranty:-

(1) headlight (entire headlight assembly) due to breakage of the bulb holder assembly

(2) changed entire rack and pinion assembly - car makes a "khng" sound each time I reverse park it > started off with the sound coming on occasionally, thereafter becoming more and more frequent.

(3) Engine oil level sensor, yellow lights come on after a drive but when checked physically, there was sufficient oil in the sump.

By the way, are you running out on the second or third year warranty? The first 2 years are covered by the manufacturer, the third however, is a PML cover, hence, they are likely to be a lot more "sticky"

My E39 warranty is expiring warranty early Dec. But the service lamp is still showing 4 boxes and that means servicing not due yet.

The thing is I bought my car second hand and wonder if any part will give way soon. So I hope to claim under warranty. But I wonder if PML will service my car if the indicator show it is not due yet? How much do I pay if I ask them to service and check ?

And during service, can I ask them to check if any parts can be replaced under warranty? Will they do it?

Thanks bros for advising me.

I dun think there is a need for there to be a servicing interval in order for u to drive into PML to claim your warranty. More importantly, u must know what are the items that require replacement. Hence, a drive to a reliable non-PML mechanic may be worth considering. Not sure how much that wld cost but shdn't be much since they are not replacing anything for u but juz advising u what parts may require changing. They can check under the bonnet, hoist the car up for u etc.

Yea..true that T6. Getttin a pro to take a look see would save a shitload time and future agony.
