Should I lower suspension if using 17inch rims?

Hi Bros,

I have just changed to a 17 inch rim on my E46 Sedan and I have heard that it is advisable to lower my suspension too or else it can cause damage to my vehicle's lower arms which are costly to replace. Can I verify if this is true?

If there is a need to lower the car, how much lower from orginal height should I go for?

Cheers!
Jenn

Change to 17" must lower suspension or else will damage lower arms??

That's the most absurd thing I've heard...

Lowering your car will only put MORE stress on your car's suspension as there is less srping travel to absorb shocks. Guess where the shocks are then transmitted to?
