When his divorce became final, Mr Jeremiah Teh invited six friends for a night of singing, drinking and women. He spent more than $47,000 alone at Tiananmen KTV and Lounge at Havelock Road, and $52,000 total for the night.
The 44-year old businessman justifies it by saying that: “It’s not that much (money) if you work out the sums — $10,000 for each year of suffering.”
A bottle of alcohol at Tiananmen KTV typically costs $500. You can also hire women to accompany you while you sing and drink; each girl is usually tipped at least $200 for the night. It is unclear how Mr Tan got to a $47,000 bill.
Miss Wei-wei, 28, a mamasan at Tiananmen, noted a growing number of men celebrating their divorces the past three years. Three party planners noticed a similar trend.
Psychologist Richard Lim said such extreme partying can be a way for divorcees to obtain closure in a type of cleansing ritual.
This guy must have been thru hell for the last 5 years man...... LOL
