SMG paddles on ordinary E60

i heard u can put SMG paddles that actually work on an ordinary E60 if u have a steptronic transmisson... is that true? can i get it from PML?

Check with Juzz4cars. PML doesn't do it and last time I asked they kept saying it will void warranrty.

Totoseow checked with a US company. It costs alot to retrofit on an e60. More than $3k.

Is the cost mainly for labour or parts?

So it's actually E46 M3 steering(wif paddleshifts) + airbag onto E60?

The one i saw at J4C was the M5 steering, swee pak... but i heard it cost alot to do, plus i think it took them more than a day to actually do it. First time always abit rough mah.. haha.

wah..interesting..dont mind paying for it... but does it work perfectly? because the staptronic has a lag... will the SMG has a lag as well? if its not as fast... i dont think its worth it..

That makes more economical sense coz at least there is no need to buy airbag (expensive oi!)

M5 steering wheel has no airbag?

anyway..what did they actually do..change the whole gearbox? that means the shifting is going to be very fast right? lik the M5?

they don't change gearbox, just replace the steering wheel with one that has the paddles. You'll still be using the steptronic, but now you can select the steptronic gears via the paddles.

The M steering wheel has a different airbag to the regular E60 steering wheel, if you change the wheel, the airbag has to change as well, I think airbag is about $1K?

it took them 7 days....cudnt figure out it is to be done..but i guess they sorted it. next car shud b a breeze. not sure about the price...better check with them..but shaaz..thats the car..silver grey. near 4k all in. wheel + paddles....

when driving put to DS...gonna test the car next few days. will give a report. i hear that rpm has been behaving higher for some reasons...

Buddy, they only change the steering wheel, tap to the tiptronic gears... so when u shift to M mode, u can use the paddles to shift up or down. shifting time is the same, no diff...

yah la, i was next to it for a couple of days.. hahaa.. somehow i knew they din really noe. my car came out, the 5 still there.. i think only recently then it came out...

i m saying..to use the paddles...shift ur stick to DS...then the paddles will work.

i m gonna test drive this car that has been fitted later. owner tells me rpm is abit high after fitting the paddles.

Yeah boy...
I hv been contemplating to do the retrofitting on my Z as well and it is still quite expensive last I heard ( tho no need to buy airbag ).........I'd better wait for the Z4M steering..swee2x
