Speeding offense question.

Hi all,

A close friend just emailed me this morning to say she got caught by TP for speeding in a 70km/h zone and exceeding it at 95km/hr. She got 150$ fine and 6 demerit points on the spot.

(BTW - in reference to all the recent posts about me, this is NOT me. And to date, I've only been caught for 1 speeding offense 80km/h in a 60km zone two years ago, and i've been driving for 7 years. And please, don't be a hypocrite.)

She mentioned that the TP stopped her and she couldn't bargain her way out of it.

Is there anyway she can do a written appeal or it's already been dictated by the police officer?

If there's another way or lobang you have and can't reveal on the forums, please PM me or sms me at 98413138.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Speeding offense question.

i agree with nitrox. Nothing can be done even u have lobang.
Appeal? For me its pointless, did try my luck 2 years ago. Went in to the room and the officer ask what is it about. The moment he saw my letter of offense, sorry we don't accept appeal on speeding.

Re: Speeding offense question.

Agree with nitrox and gadaffi... I tried appealing when I got a speeding ticket on pie. Letter said I was at jurong and I was at eunos area?!

Respons came back telling me infarction was at eunos... No win situation :(

(I had family in car and was really behaving that day)

Re: Speeding offense question.

Ryan, this sounds ridiculous, but trust me, it is relevant - what is your friend's occupation?

Re: Speeding offense question.

No chance to appeal. Same thing happened to me. Got caught and issued with summon on the spot. Can appeal to prolong demerit points implementation date. That's what i did. Appealed and dragged for 11 months. So the 12 points will officially be implemented today till one year from date of offence which is 14 april. Im damn sure as im sitting outside court no. 21 awaiting my trial right now. Haha.

Re: Speeding offense question.

unless she's a doctor of some sort, rushing to saving a life etc.

would suggest her to pay n go.

next time, slow down.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Basically the effective demerit point period is only from today to April. After april, it will be reinstated back to you.

1. Don't ever deny the offense, apologise and plead for leniency.
2. Take the MP route.

Re: Speeding offense question.

gee gee
i always tot not exceeding 15km/h on the speed limit normally will get a warning....guess i'm wrong again

Re: Speeding offense question.

if first time caught speeding..should try to appeal plus it is not the 12 demerit points and above case (that one i think confirm no chance as the speed has breached dangerous level)..go down to TP HQ..and explain something reasonable to the officer (and also look and sound sincere) during the appeal session..good luck..

Re: Speeding offense question.

just OT abit yeah?

maybe she can start shaking her hands, screaming, ranting till the TP gives up talking to her?

dont surrender driver licence, if TP tries to reach for it, scream molest/rape

or she can try to buy time.... talk n talk, best if incoherently (women seems to have an innate ability to do that, no offence to your fren), den if she gets lucky a truck comes by n knock the TP down n no ticket issued?

hahahah

sorry for the OT and if the jokes were in bad taste, no offence to anyone

what was she driving?
had a fren who was once driving a 4l car and was stopped for doing 15kmh above limit
he was very apolegetic and said he was driving his boss' car to his boss
his own car is a 1.3l
so he's not used to it, and didn't feel the speed he was traveling act

maybe TP good mood and coupled with the fact he admitted his fault but was polite
was let go with a warning...
maybe wanna try the 'i am not use to the large CC car that i was driving that day?'

or say speedo was spoilt?

Bro, u wrote in the appeal letter to the wrong department.....:lol2: :lol2:
Usually if your appeal letter is strong enough to support the scenerio (all the cxck & bull stories) ..... you will not be ask to appear in court.... you will oni be invited to TP @ Ubi to see the IO.....

Upon goin into the interview room, the Officer will tell straight to your face....(No need waste your time and silivia explaining)
"Ai $150 fine 12 demerit pts OR Ai go court (fine usually be $500 above) 12 demerit pts......."

So far i oledi kenna twice liao..... within a period of 3 years. :)

Re: Speeding offense question.

my case was Jan/08, i kenna on 1st day of CNY along Lornie Rd, by camera.
Went to TP HQ, 4 fella b4 me oso end up paying, so was mine, when i enter room. That straight face TO Encik say, give me yr IC. scan thru computer, and say, you kenna letter before. Speeding is dangerous, you know.....xxxxx....xxxxx.....xxxx....and come out, pay $150 + 6 pts.

so dont waste time. Pay, and be good for next 12 mths.

PS: its true some ppl can get away with it, connection is key. maybe yr friend can try write in to appeal if no time to go down, hopefully yr case is genuine. Dont fret, its part n parcel of driving in sin. There r thousands out there still driving w/o license, after kenna "katong"

Better not tell them then.
They might double the points & fine.

Especially if she happens to be an AIG derivatives trader.

Re: Speeding offense question.

i remember some famous forummer here who shall remain unnamed, was speeding very fast and actually did a tokyo drift around a traffic junction and was caught red handed by a TP biker. He explained his bro was dying at the ICU and was then even escorted personally to the hospital by the TP. is this power or what.
