Squeaking Sound

There is a squeaking sound coming from my brakes whenever i apply them. Is it because the pads have worn out.
but the service indicator says the front still has 7000KM life and the rear 11000KM? any idea anyone?

Re: Squeaking Sound

That's pretty normal if you're using original brake pads.

Re: Squeaking Sound

Can do a physical check on the pads and the rotor to confirm.
Else it is pretty normal. You can ask the workshop to grind the pads in such a way that the sound will disappear.

Don't bother lah......mine serviced twice still got squeal occassionally. ALL, if not, MOST BMWs have this issue with stock pads. Go to PML service reception lots and observe if you don't believe me......hehehe!

Anyway, normal lah, you get used to it. This happens mostly to people like me who brake very gently unless neccassry to "ZHUM" brakes......

Go for a few rounds of "ZHUM" brakes session after your brakes are duly warmed up, sometimes that eliminates the squeal.

Cheers!

Re: Squeaking Sound

at least i know i'm not having brake problems but its quite paiseh especially when pp hear squealing sounds coming from a BMW.

Re: Squeaking Sound

You can always change to non-original brake pads if you really can't tahan the sound.

And less brake dust too! No need to clean yr rims that often

Re: Squeaking Sound

you might want to check with your CSA first.

i had a similar problem with the 318. i told my CSA about it when i sent the car in for Inspection I and he replaced the rotors under warranty because he noticed some, and i quote, "scoring" on the rotors.

Wah!

Good for you! Brake rotors covered under warranty? That is new cos come inspection I, your ride should be about 40K Km already and they still changed your rotors for free......

Can share which CSA?

Thanks, bro!

Re: Squeaking Sound

Re: Squeaking Sound

My front pads were worn out recently and I took it for replacement. Noticed my disc were abt 0.2cm eaten in. Was told by workshop that replcing only pads would cause the squeal to come on. So changed disc as well. Wasnt too costly. So check ur front disc.

Re: Squeaking Sound

Silverbeam, my brakes have been squeaking since I changed my pads abt a month ago, and I was told to change my disc as well. I have not done it thinking the pads need to sit in for a period of time. However, it still squeaks today. May I know what disc you have changed to and where did you do it?
