Squeaky sound after installing coilovers

Hi, I recently installed coilovers on my e93 and after driving for about one week, I noticed some squeaky sound at the front whenever my car passed over humps or uneven roads. However, strangely the squeaky sound gets louder when the travelling is slow. When I go fast, it seems to be softer. Does anyone has any experience on this? Is it because the shocks or springs are faulty? I have not gone back to the mechanic yet as I thought I better solicit some expert advice here first. If this is unavoidable, then no point going back to the mechanic. Thanks.

Re: Squeaky sound after installing coilovers

Likely ur dampers setting are too soft if ur coils are adjustable. Try setting higher and see if it works.

Hi, pardon me if I am ignorant. I thought if it is really the damper settings, wouldn't the squeaky sound appears immediately after installation? I only started hearing the sound after driving two to three weeks. Could it be that thevshocks need to be greased? Just find it frustrating. Not sure if it is a better brand like kw, will there be such prob? Someone told me coilover sure will have these type of prob regardless of the brand.

Does it squeak when you press the bonnet down ?

The sound has miraculously disappeared... Not sure why but I did not do anything to it... Hope it will not come back again.

Try to monitor the sound. If it come back esp after car wash or rain(water touches the damper) then almost cfm it is the soft damper setting. What u mention earlier on the speaking shld come right after installation is correct too but that is likely due to too soft setting. For squeak only when it's wet, is just soft setting. Notice the too soft and soft. I had both from previous experience and rectified after many tries and errors.

Some brands are noisy then the rest... Some shops will just apply grease to the contacting areas to try reduce the noise...

Thanks for the advice. Now I noticed the found is still there but it is much much softer. That is why I thought it disappeared. Think I will go back to Fong Kim and see what they can do. Worst case is to change to a more reputable brand .

I am so glad that FK managed to diagnose the problem. The sound is caused by loose connection from the strut bar... They oiled and tightened the connection. No more sound...
