Hey guys I have the above issue and I understand is the disc rotor issue that caused the vibration. But
My issue is that this is consider the 3rd set of rotor having this vibration issue. Brought a used e90 found the
Vibration issue change a new set of rotor but after 20k km the virabration comes again than I changed to BMW performance kit. After like 3000km it warp again. What's the issue?i don't really wash car directly after driving
Any guys have this frequent issue?

Could it be your ABS cutting in since you said it's under hard braking?

Re: Steering vibrates when braking

I brought used but replaced the pad n rotor. So shldnt be rotor or pad issue. Could it be steering cone as mileage is 180k km......pls advise. Mine is vibrate on light braking. Hard braking won't vibrate

Probably however i have a gut feeling that it could be due to the rotors being worn out unevenly.

Re: Steering vibrates when braking

If rotor warped - it will be a pulsating feeling when you step on the brake pedals.

Steering wheel vibrate could be wheel balancing issues or bent rims etc ......

Guys. Pls recommend a workshop to skim the rotors n price. Thx u.

Was told by WS bmw stock rotor cannot be skimmed.

It's softer than jap type and typically this rotor part will need to change new part, after every 2 set of brake pad changes.

Re: Steering vibrates when braking

Do try kiam kana, change to new rotor for safety reason.

Cannot brake in time is cost more than a new rotor. Normally less than 80 dollars per pc rotor.

Re: Steering vibrates when braking

I was told not to skim rotor unless it is very new. This is because skimming makes the rotor thinner. Then when your pad also wear thin, you may end up in a case of reduced braking power because the caliper piston runs out of travel. Not sure how true.

Steering wheel vibrate could be rotor warpped or uneven pad transfer. Normally light braking no problem, but brake a bit harder especially at higher speed, you can feel and even see the steering wheel wag very fast.

I'm on BMW kit rotor and it's less than 4000k mileage

Best get a good WS to diagnose and fix. Have you tried R2D?

Besides your rotor / brake pad transfer, do check the front / rear brake bias esp if you change to bbk front only.

Re: Steering vibrates when braking

If your steering wheel vibrates when you are not stepping on the brakes then it's not the brakes.

If you have a pulsating feeling on the brake pedal when you apply the brakes then your rotor is warped.

To decide to skim or not is not whether rotor new or old - it's about the minimum thickness which is usually indicated on the rotor itself. That the WS can advise and measure.

Re: Steering vibrates when braking

Check your wheel balancing, or suspension but usually it's the former.
