None of the stock rims has TPMS. It uses ABS sensor to check whether there is any puncture via difference in rotation btw wheels.

Re: tpms

all TPMS comes standard on all wheels from BMW, at least in the US, its like this

Re: tpms

Only US-spec cars have TPMS. Europe and Asian specs, no TPMS.

Re: tpms

I installed my own at - 2X0++. There's another one from another bro in the forum. Kind of good to have. Very helpful sometimes because you don't have to guess the pressure ....

Re: tpms

TPMS is different from run flat indicator, right? Any kind soul care to explain to me how tpms works? thx.

Re: tpms

For the add ons like mine, it has a separate display with 4 tire pressure readings as well as Temperature of the individual wheels. It also has alarm for low PSI reading or temperature.

OEM Run flat just tells you "a" tire is lower but you need to check which tire is it by looking at it. Not easy when I checked.

Re: tpms

Put simply, TPMS detects individual tyre pressure. Run flat indicator detects loss of tyre pressure by consistently comparing wheel speed and revolutions with the help of the signal from the ABS system.

This means that in the extreme case of 4 leaking tyres, TPMS (all 4) would have alerted you, but not RFI.

Re: tpms

OK thanks..understand now. Got a little confused searching the net cos our RFI is also known as "Indirect TPMS", as opposed to Direct TPMS which u guys are referring to..
