Trading in my 320I for 120

Hi Guys


I am deciding to trading in my 320i for a 120 convertible...



1. 320i was bought Feb 07

2. Trade-in price to PML = $95k - good price???

3. I was told the 120 convertible is about $158k - good price??

4. Comparing the spec on 120 and 125 coupe...seems the 125 is more powerful but 120 is prettier??

So should i do it? i intend to trade in and get the 120 in feb before my insurance / roadtax

please advise

How much you gonna lose by selling at $95k for a 1.5yo car??

If you're ok with that, (though i think it's silly to do so) then go ahead and follow your heart!

i paid $128k for it...so technically i lose about $33k

my monthly installment is $800 for 5 years...if i change now...will become $1600 for 5 years..

financial aside...its worth it? is the 120 a good car?? coz i see the engine seems to be the same as the 320i...so means no performance improvement?

Hi Alex, i'm driving a 2 weeks old 120i cab...so does 4 forum members here. nice car, but if you want performance, get the coupe...hamz

coupe better performance...but cab nicer leh...

i find my 320i performance not very good...so if i take cab...also the same...then not much point

hi alex, most of us paid 158 +/- i guess...a nimble car to handle, a head turner as well.

I think the 120i is good if ur lookin for a good and affordable cabriolet. Performance wise, I believe it will take a step back from the 320 as the car is heaview but with the same engine. Maybe the more experience bro here can verify this?

The trade in price is not attractive.. ask for at least $100k..

As for 120i, the only reason to change is beco its a convertible... Drive wise, the 320 would be better.

Performance is the same....

i need at the very least 2+2...i cant have a 2 seater..

bo hua lah bro, pls don't change. drive for another few yrs u lose lesser on your 320 and probably will pay also lesser for the 120 cab or coupe. both ends you "save".

I thought the 120 cab had the 170bhp engine version? Or is that just the parallel import units?

Booked the 120 cabrio. $157k

Alpine White with Coral Red interior.

I'll be incharge of modding her ride......

Yes, but our PI price for the 120 cabrio is not so attractive....so my advice to her is to get from PML.

But for modding, she'll let me take charge.....kekekeke

anyway TS as a guide the 07 320 is prob going at ard 105. i think if u run a ad u prob can let go ard 100k easily to a direct buyer.

if you're after for performance improvements. losing 30K by trading in for 120i cab, might as well spend it to mod your 320i with super charged it.

recession coming ar... wise to think how to double your saving and NOT double up your spending.

furthermore you need 2+2. i don't think any 1-series serve better than 3-series.
