Re: turbo charge my e92 320

Turbo-charging NA.... going the LTA compliant way or non-compliant way? The former is more expensive while the latter is cheaper but if caught by LTA, the former is 'good to go' while the latter is expensive.

Re: turbo charge my e92 320

1st of all, r u sure that N46 can withstand the additional boast?

Re: turbo charge my e92 320

I have 3 qns for TS :
1) how much do you think it will cost
2) how much power can you get with decent reliability from this mod
3) do you think it will be more worthwhile changing ride after taking into account the resale price

Re: turbo charge my e92 320

N46B20 are not capable to withstand e additional power boost from TC.
Wear & tear will be very high. NA best is stick to NA. Can consider the "no man's land" section (eg: modify engine management) wallet have to be big, heavy & deep..

Enjoy yur mod quest.

Cheersssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

How to turbo charge NA the compliant way??? I thought LTA would never approve that?

Re: turbo charge my e92 320

You have to get your set individually approved by LTA, but not without rigourous testing.
And it may not pass the first time, or may not pass at all.
Last time perhaps possible, but very much harder now.

To my understanding, the test can cost about $12-14k per round.
Unless you can find the exact same car(s) who is willing to do it with you, to share the costs, but not without terms and conditions.

Good luck really.

About the wear and tear, we drive to 10 years mostly, and dont overdo on the setting for boost e.g. Below 0.7 bar.

But honestly, my opinion is no point to spend that money.
And if u have it, get a 328i or something.

Re: turbo charge my e92 320

In my opinion, not worth spending the money on turbo charging.

If really need to go FI, then super-charging it is the MOST in term of cost and reliability are concerned.
