Understanding tire pressure monitor

Need some technical information.
My f10 comes with a feature that can detect tiire pressure.
Is there any sensors built into the rims? How do such pressure detection work?
I intend to change my stock 17" to 18".
Is it just a standard tire replacement which the tire shop guys need to do?
Anything about the tire pressure monitor which needs to be looked into during tire change?

Thanks!

Re: Understanding tire pressure monitor

You sure it is tyre pressure and not just flat tyre?

Tyre pressure monitor has extra bits on the rims.

Flat tyre monitor is just seeing number of rev of the tyre.

If you can not see the exact value of tyre pressure and tyre temperature, then it is not TPMS, so nothing special in your tyre.
