I think the thread starter asked if it's possible to change the dashboard from the non I-Drive to the I-Drive Dashboard. It is definitely possible and relatively easy to carry out the swap. Any of the workshop that has done aircon blower or condensor replacement definitely knows how to remove the dashboard.

I once had this idea as well and mount the Garmin and a few defi gauges within the additional hole.
