Autoweek, a Dutch magazine, produces a comparison between the new Audi RS5 and the BMW M3 Coupe. The BMW M3 is has a naturally aspirated, high revving 4-liter V8 S65B40 engine capable of 414 horsepower at 8,300 rpm and peak torque of 400 Nm at 3,900 rpm. The Audi RS5 on the other hand has a 4.2-liter V-8 engine capable of 450 horsepower at 8250 rpm, peak torque of 317 lb-ft at 4000-6000 rpm. These specifications show us that the Audi RS5 can produce 36 more horsepower than the BMW M3.

The verdict: the Audi is amazing, but the spirit of the M3 is unbeatable.

Please bear with the video, as it is not in English. However, there are English subtitles for your convenience.

Re: Video Comparison - Audi RS5 vs. BMW M3

Was fortunate enough to be invited up to Sepang last weekend for the launch of the RS5. What was fantastic was that we each got 2 rounds on the track. Because of my 'greedy' brother, I only got to drive the RS5, the TTRS and the S5 Sportback but not the awesome R8 V10

Conclusion:
1. RS5 - fantastic car with even more fantastic exhaust. Pick up is pretty awesome but has slight roll around corners even with the AWD. The seats are so moulded that you prob want out after 15 mins. The greatest downside is the price - $365k on a probable OMV of $80k and that doesn't even include the 20k+ ceramic brakes. Buy a PI 911S and you would be much better off.

2. TTRS - probably the most fun of the lot especially in manual drive and great for drifting. However with a redline limited to 6700RPM, it struggles to keep up with this company

3. S5 Sportback - boy am i glad I didn't sign on the dotted line recently. Too much tail spin and pretty confused about whether it wants to be a luxury GT or performance GT.

4. R8 (as passenger) - if I won the lottery tomorrow or my apt goes enbloc, this is the car I would buy. But not for urban Singapore use. The gear changes are far too abrupt. But the moment you get some open space, you'd be grinning all the way to Cheshire (with or without the cat) :chinese:

Oh ya - PA were remarkable hosts - biz class tickets up, great food and drink and nice hotel too. Only spent $34 for the weekend - that was for parking overnight at Changi :wavey:

Cos you probably put on weight eating too much pratas and other goodies before that. 8)8)

Agree, the TTRS with the new 2.5 litre engine is a gem. Looking forward to the RS3 with this same engine, this would be a great compact car to own.
