Want to Take the Plunge, But Concerned

Hi all!

I am considering a BMW for a while now but am really concerned about the reliability. So far have driven Merc and VW amongst Japanese Brand’s but prefer Germans. So far no issues with regard to reliability.

Have heard Friend's 5 series door jammed due to heat in Singapore, 1 series air con failure etc. Is there any model of BMW that is more resilient? Really like the features and options that come on BMW especially with connected drive.

Hope to hear from all soon!

Thanks!

German car are tough and resilient if taken with good care and maintain well. Wear and tear are inevitable regardless of which car brand.

Hi Viper Warrior, thanks for that!

Understand mate, but the two issues I mentioned above happened during the first year of 2 separate friend's rides. Have heard other horror stories later on in other friend's rides (3 series engine oil leak and X5 general unreliability over the years) so was just wondering if I should steer clear from any particular model.

Was looking at the 4GC or 5 series (=

Hi ac323!

Haha I'd love to have a Z4 but in case my other car breaks down I would like to have the option of having a car that can sit 4.

M4 is yummy, but no place in SG to feel the kick... already the 2L GTi engine has no where to enjoy, everywhere 90 max..... sigh

One good way to find out, if you get to know some workshops well, they will tell you which series to avoid (by year) and which one is more reliable based on their experience on repairs and complained from individual owner.

Thanks Viper Warrior, this is good advice.

One of my friends services at juz4cars or something like that (saw the decal). Maybe I can ask them. Any others to recommend?

All cars are the same. If you take care of them, there will take care of you.... :) Welcome!

I don't think many workshops will tell which cars are reliable. They'll be doing themselves a disservice!

Thanks for that Jim, I suppose you might be right but no harm asking. Any other better way of obtaining the info? By the way I am thinking of new cars only after some feedback

Yup, as I said you got to know the workshop well before getting any insider info.
I was told F10 LCI model, buy with confidence. First few years of the G30 tend to have small bugs here and there. Wait for the G30 LCI to be out if you can based on their experience. So if you are looking for F10, the LCI model will be your best bet (year 2014 onwards).
