Wheel Bearing

Hello expert here.
Recently my 06 E90 320i is having a Kong...Kong...Kong sound. The sound is more obvious at lower speed since the road noise is lower, my Tyre is about 25k km. My coilover is about 60k km. So I don't think is from suspension.
Car mileage is almost 177k km.
Will like to ask expert here, can the noise come from wheel bearing?
Normally at what mileage the wheel bearing need to change.

Might be rear differential shaft
Just change the differential shaft oil will solve the problem

Ok, please check the power steering fluid and top up if needed, this will also solve the sound.

If sound still persist, then maybe have to change the ball bearing...

Why don't you bring your car to a proper BMW workshop and get it checked out?

No offence Aaron, I know you are trying to help. But out of 3 suggestions, you said 2 WILL solve the problem. A lot of new people come into this forum and our advice to them is golden.

Sometimes, asking the guys to send their cars directly to the ws may be the best advice especially for complicated cases.

Cheers.

Ok. My bad...

I post with more care from now on.

The thread starter might just wanna ask what could be the possible reasons for the sound???

I should have said the sound might be caused by the rear differential or shortage of power steering fluid.

Either change of the rear differential oil or check the power steering fluid and top up if need to help solve the sound problem.

Please have it check at a workshop to confirm this issue and let us know the outcome.

Cheers!

Re: Wheel Bearing

give aaron a break la

I dun see anything wrong with his suggestion.

Toto can say wong wong sound in cabin is becos of bees, and I said brake spoil is becos got ghost.

I actually think some really went to find tang kee for their cars after my advice

Re: Wheel Bearing

There is too many probable causes to a simple symptomatic description by thread starter.

FYI, wheel bearings wearing out might have all sorts of sounds, from clunking to grinding to humming to even clicking, at various speeds.

The way TS described, it could be:

~ drive shaft components
~ suspension ball joints, tie rods, springs, absorbers, strut, ARB links
~ bushings

Bottom line - the range of possibilities is too wide. Go to a reputable workshop and get a proper diagnosis. Does not make sense to analyse the root of the issue from a simple description.

Actually sound is caused by either moving air or friction.

Re: Wheel Bearing

there are many newbies here who cannot get the drift from more senior members here re going to a reputable workshop...these newbies whoever they are DESERVE to be cut throat, ripped off, conned and carrot head by other non reputable workshops. I tell them ORH BEE GOOD. Tell u go PML, u go Ah Leong Workshop cos your bro recommended you or their oil change cheap $100 all in vs PML $300 (ccb gahmen).

Also, when the more experienced members here give you suggestions/advice, these are personal opinions (unless he is a qualified mechanic and has psychic powers to know the problem from a wall of text or a simple sentence "why my aircon got wong wong sound?"), if the newbie treats these suggestions/advices as golden and the ws diagnose otherwise, then another big ORH BEE GOOD to you. May your BMW be stuck in a flood and you sit inside asking forum "My engine flooded, need expert advice from the bros here"

Re: Wheel Bearing

I tried calling a doctor friend over the phone and get a diagnosis and free prescription, but the answer is always "hey, can you come down for a proper diagnosis?"

I always thought they are the pros, can diagnose problems over the phone, based on what the patient says on the phone.

Those aunties are even better. They hear your symptoms, straight away they KNOW FOR SURE what illness you have. They will then suggest the medications to take.

Scary.

Re: Wheel Bearing

Lawyers same.

I had someone PM me "bro, my maid ran away, can sue the agency?"

Re: Wheel Bearing

Re: Wheel Bearing

Or go Optima Werkz, one of the largest workshop around. hear they are honest and competent. will inform, consult and seek consent from owner before changing parts. Best of all, parts changed have 6mths warranty!

Sorry, I am not a fan of JB workshop.

Nothing wrong with JB. It made me a lot of my money, and I love LBMMs.

Just that like you too, I prefer to repair my cars in SG with BMW specialists I know. It's a choice.

Cheers....
