whistling noise on the driver's side

car in question is an E46. Driver's side starting to have an annoying constant whistling noise when driving. It tends to start up as you increase speed like on the highway. PML says it's the door seal that has to be replaced BUT because car is in the 3rd year of warranty, this problem is not covered. This really pisses me off cos I noticed earlier on that external noise drifting into the cabin seemed to be getting louder and I suspected the door seals might be wearing out prematurely. But of course, as most of you know, PML is not super keen to trouble shoot problems that are not super obvious. (how many of you have heard the line "we can't fix it if we can't hear it. during test drive no sound leh. Want to leave it here for 3 more days?") Thus often, they only admit there's a problem when it is at a super jialat stage, and if you're as unlucky as me, that happens after the first two golden years of warranty.

But unless I want to go bang table and complain about it being unfair to penalize me for not forcing them to change all the seals at an earlier stage... I am stuck with their solution of me paying for door seal replacement.
Anybody here experienced this problem? am also hoping there is an alternative solution that can be done at BVO or J4C at a cheaper price. The whistling is driving me a little nuts, it's high pitched enough to be heard over my music blasting.

The rubber on my door seals must be damn soft and luxurious for it to be expected to have worn out so early in life. I should use it to massage my face instead. Either that or the warranty assumes the Hulk will be closing the doors on the driver's behalf.

Re: whistling noise on the driver's side

Like PML said, its the door seals... you have a 2 dr or 4 dr? 2 dr cause the windows are frameless the chances of the seals not functioning are a lot higher... but 3 years is a bit old for rubber already lah.. rubber tends to harden after 2 years so thats why the sounds come about... bo pian...
