"I've used public transport quite extensively in the past, when I didn't have to move around so much. But now, in my present job when I have to travel to quite a few different places in a particular day, I understand the difficulty if one were to rely largely or solely on public transport to do so." - Minister, can dont TCSS! U are telling me, in your previous job, u take public transport? As a naval general, u don't drive but take public transport? u kidding me yea?
In the 1st place, SAF commissioned officers are not encouraged/permitted to take public transport hor (taxi excluded), not to mention u were a senior officer and reached the rank of a general.
Oh forgot, u have a MID vehicle assigned to you plus a Sergeant driver who fetches you home-work-meeting-home... weekends u also take public transport before your current job?
Anyway me too, i used public transport extensively during my school days, in my early days of working life... I think same applies to almost everyone lah, goon do.

Reason 1: Public transport is not convenient near my house (No MRT and Bus is too slow)....Reason 2: Need to fetch family, especially kids to school. Reason 3: Too dwell with the luxury of driving big cars...

Have you seen what kind of public transport this minister takes?? EMPTY public transport!!! I wouldn't mind taking the PT if it was always that empty...not the kind of jostle-you-elbow-you-in-the-ribs-and-let-you-smell-my-sweaty-pits-while-I-cough-in-your-face kind of public transport...

Destructive to who ?
Based on his rationale - once the population hits a certain threshold, cars should be banned due to land scarcity. The argument would be choose one - land for homes or roads for cars ?

"Increasing capacity, delivering a more reliable service, making sure that the buses come more regularly, less crowded, invested significant sums of money in that direction, buying more trains, continuing to build more lines - these are really as much for the short-term. And in the longer-term, the vision is to put more people to live within closer proximity to a train station so they can choose to either walk, maybe take a short bicycle ride, or if they wish to, take a feeder to a station. Hopefully, if we have better connectivity to where they need to go to, if we have a higher quality of service, I think we can make public transport a more viable alternative for more Singaporeans."
All issues pin-pointed, but please, work on the short-term issues first. These are not mere perceptions on the ground.

Landlord says that the house needs to be fuller - need more rent ..... So all have to take the shit in a shared toilet. No more toilets of your own.
