will coe hit 200k on feb 2013 when coe supply increment cut to 0.5% ?
will government step in to change the system ? like lottery system ?

1) For COE to reach 200k, that is more than 100% increase leh... I only expect it to break 100k by end of the year and stabilise at 120k thereabouts...

Firstly, with a weakening euro market, OMVs of new cont. cars will drop (thus the import tax as well). This might channel more tolerance into higher COEs if the overall car price remain largely unaffected...

However, should the recession hits, people will definitely tighten their purses. However, COE will still rise as the quota is being reduced too fast.

2) Singapore has always been practicing a meritocracy system. Thus they will make sure only the rich or those who can afford it be able to pay for it.

200K? Why not?

It has nothing to do with euro market or oil price or mosquito dengue. It's all emotional sentiments.

Look at the price of housing. When Carribean was launch at $990, a lot of people were lamenting condo price is going to pass the magical $1,000 mark. Now the magic mark is probbly $3K.

COE can hit 200K, as long as banks are willing to lend. Like 50-year housing loans.

Nothing is impossible in crazy red dot.

And also inflation too...... Singaporeans getting richer nowadays. Buy cars at $200k is like bread and butter... just a few years ago, cars above $80k i must think for 3 months cos a Punggol flat was only $200k then.

literally, car owner kena squeeze twice 1st buy new car 2nd trade-in used car
