greetings, newbie to the forum here. planning to swop from my current s2k toget the new z4 35i and wonder if I can get any opinions about it here.

One more question, will it be worthwhile to get a PI car if PML commands a 25k premium?

thanks!

Go for it Daniel, I tried the sDrive35i, definitely a screamer!

Whether its PI or PML, u have to weigh the optionality that is included for both cars. Some PI's have less features included in their cars and hence the lower cost. And also the warranty coverage and OMV's between PML and PI cars.

the saving with PI should be around 30k or more (>30k if some specs are missing like iDrive)..25k might be due to new model premium..

good point..do compare the specs for both cars and see if you need them or not..also check out PI's authorised workshops..

think the last i checked PI was selling at 170k and PML 190k. so shld be around 20k savings.

yes, do think 2wice on the issue of authorrize workshops. last thing u want is to have an issue and they r not adequate equipped to rectify the car

Actually, a friend has specced a 23i more heavily than PML specs and the price was 170k. PML's price for a lesser specced 23i was 195k.

Hitmee is right - these prices are for the 23i.

I believe you can get around 210k to 215k from a PI for a car specced similarly to PML, who are asking 245k.

Re: z4 35i

Also ask for the OMV of both cars..they should be around 10k~15k difference (i'm using existing models as a benchmark)..not 100% sure though..

Re: z4 35i

Hi,

i think it's ok about the omv as normally if we buy a ride with a higher paper value then in future can sell higher if buy lower then in future the car pricing should be lower when selling.........

look thru carefully and see what's at your advantage (either PI or PML) then go for it..........

hope you get your Z soon...............

happy searching

cheers

Re: z4 35i

hey guys,

thank you for all the valuable inputs so far and it will be be useful to help me make up my mind. I guess I will go for PML unless i can get a discount of >25k from a PI for similar specs.

Breyton I will be keen to know where your friend get his car, mind share? :)

One question for current bm drivers. Will the iDrive be worth it to get? I noticed that even for PML cars, IDrive doesnt seems to come as an option. Some were telling me cos its a new hard disk based system and hence no support still for SG markets.

Re: z4 35i

Hi dcs2k,

(from PML) i think the idrive comes with it for s35i model but not for the s23i...since you are getting the s35i........just have it and enjoy then...........unless you are buying a s23i from PI and it is an option item (idrive)...........

happy searching..........

cheers.......

Based on OMV of $68K and $19K COE, PML will still have a comfortable margin of $42K after knocking $25K off the list price.

If you have an existing ride to trade in, you can try getting $25k (or thereabout) in overtrade from PML so you can have your cake and eat it :D

iDrive must be ordered as an option and indented. seems the current pml spec are all w/o it as standard. but do u really need it? my friend has the z4 35i and already has integrated bluetooth for phone, and iphone connectivity with the radio. maybe u can spend the idrive option money elsewhere!

hope u manage to bargain px down, but for these "lifestyle" cars, they tend to be q firm, with limited room to push. Not the same as the 4 door sedans that have more flexible margins eg: even the 335 sedans are sold at bigger discounts versus the coupe variant. but of course, these lifestyle cars supposed to hold resale value better.

Re: z4 35i

hey guys, newbie to these forums and just booked an S35i, idrive is not standard though, but comes w everything else. chose pml simply because with the hardtop mechanism, not gonna take chances with a PI. cheers!

Re: z4 35i

yeah if thats the case, PI prices r indeed attractive. only incentive from PML is 3 yrs peace of mind

Re: z4 35i

Thanks mate! Aug production, so should arrive end sept thru oct. Sapp black with red interiors. For the same price range, i tried the boxter, cayman and the z4 35i all on the same day, back to back.

Speed and performance wise, the e89 beats the porsches hands down. Comfort wise in 'normal' mode, damn nice drive, not too soft, and can still take corners well. Sport+ - the car totally changes character, becomes as hard if not harder than the boxster, which is really bo lak imho. maybe the cayman s can match it, but that's a totally different price range liao. the porsches were just to hard a ride, and lacking in equipment.

most importantly, this car has got serious mod potential and the n54 engine is a beaut. Simple ECU upgrades can add serious HP to the car, not to mention other stuff.

My first beemer, hope the experience with the car is good. heard dozens of horror stories about build quality and PML's f-up service tho.

Now researching on how to convert the sunglass area (where the idrive is supposed to be) into something useful. any lobang for a good shop to do this at?

Re: z4 35i

Hi gfoo,

congras man............

same as well for me........tested the Boxster........final answer (Z4)...i love the interior of the Z............but anyway Boxster is just the entry level of Porsche as compared to the Z that is 1 of the atas series for PML.........(i supposed)

most important is buy what you like as end of the day you are the one enjoying the ride........

Mine is (Black 2) with red interior.....(hope can collect by this coming week)

what other mod plan you have in mind man?

cheers
