Robb Report hosts inaugural Car of the Year event in Singapore

Robb Report Singapore, the leading voice in luxury, will be hosting its inaugural Car of the Year event outside of the United States and globally from 13 to 16 September 2016. Originating in California, the very first Robb Report Car of the Year kicked off in 1993. Created to give the magazine readers access and voting power, Robb Report presents an assemblage of very unique automobiles. Partnering with Marina Bay Sands, eight cutting-edge automobiles will be on display at the Convention Centre.

Entering its 23rd year globally and for the first time in Singapore, the annual by-invitation- only multi-vehicle test-drive brings a select and dedicated group of Robb Report readers — many whom are qualified purchasers of these competing marques — and editors together to the streets of Singapore to try out and discuss the automotive industry’s most spectacular new sports and luxury models, and decide which is most deserving of the title Robb Report Car of the Year. Previously hosted in locations such as Napa Valley and Fairmont Grand Del Mar Resort in San Diego, the event will be held in Singapore, in Hall D at Marina Bay Sands’ Expo and Convention Centre. These individuals each spend a full day driving the contenders, putting them through their paces and carefully scoring each model. Their ownership experience and insights — combined with the expert feedback of the Robb Report editors — make the Car of the Year title a coveted and respected prize. At the end of the event, votes will be meticulously tallied to determine the winner. The winning car model will grace the front cover of Robb Report’s November issue.

While BMW might be out of contention for the Singapore title, Robb Report judges back in the United States recently gave the BMW 750i xDrive high praise, giving it 8th place overall and favouring it over cars that cost roughly two (Mercedes-Maybach S600) and three times (Bentley Mulsanne Speed) as much.

And just a year ago in 2015, the sublime BMW i8 managed to clinch 3rd place. Sitting in good company behind the mighty Porsche 918 and the Ferrari California T.
