Christopher Weil on the MINI Vision Next 100

Check out this video as MINI’s Head of Exterior Design Christopher Weil discusses the new MINI Vision Next 100 Concept. The futuristic concept was unveiled in London just last month.

The MINI Vision Next 100 is a futuristic system that allows drivers in urban city centers to call a MINI that’s perfectly tailored to their preferences, at anytime and anywhere. The MINI will actually adapt itself to the driver’s individual tastes and preferences once the person is inside the car.

The design was a bit tricky but the MINI design team was able to come up with a “blank canvas”. In what we’ve seen so far, the MINI Vision NEXT 100 is wrapped in a silver skin that’s able to change colors and design to suit the preferences of the driver.

The “Cooperizer” is a tool where all preferences are communicated to. It is a centrally-positioned circular instrument in the dashboard of the car. It will be a multi-faceted digital intelligence system that allows to different personalities, entertainment, communications and even autonomous settings for the driver.

The Vision Next 100 still looks like a true MINI. It has the iconic roof and necessary proportions. It also has a vast windscreen that extends all the way down to the glass grille. This is important because it allows for unparalleled forward visibility.

The car looks even more emotional with a set of thin led lamps embedded on the leading edge of the front fenders, prominent wheel houses on the rear, a high belt line floating roof, and a full width LED tail lamps that Christopher Weil discusses.
