The rumor about the production of the new MINI Sedan has started spreading recently.
If it is true, it would mean that the British brand is entering a new market, since they don’t have anything similar in their arsenal right now. Ralph Mahler, MINI’s product manager, said that the new car will be made mostly for the new markets, such as Chinese, instead of the big, saturated markets like the U.S.
Mahler added: “For example, in Asia and the US, the sedan segment is very big. This is very interesting to us, of course. The sedan concept is in our history. So we have roots there. We have to look at it in a factual way. Customers may know of the strong heritage of the sedan concept, but it was never sold in big volumes. Most customers would hardly know that, so would they link to heritage?â€
