Afte the results of the first MINI census arrived, it’s official: most of the MINI’s are boys and the most popular name is Marvin.
Before the MINI World Live event takes place on July 10 at the Rockingham Motor Speedway, Northants, the people behind it decided they want to know whether the cars are girls or boys and what are their names. The results state that the 51% of all the MINI’s in the world are boys, 35% are girls, and 14% don’t have a specified gender. Even those without a gender are surely more than just a car to their owners, the fact which can be confirmed by anyone who’s ever owned one.
As for the names, the most popular seems to be Marvin, as in the Paranoid Android from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s closely followed by Tommy and Jack, and another pop-culture reference, the Minions movie, made the names Dave, Stuart, and Bob increase in popularity.
The girls’ names seem a bit less creative, the most popular ones being Minnie, Mollie, and Millie. There are also some very creative and unusual names, such as Pingu for the white car with a black roof, Tetley, Mojo Jojo, and others.
The survey was done all over the world to get as accurate picture as possible. The age of owners varied from 17 to 80 and it’s now clear that MINI is definitely not a “girl car”.
