Coming this 2021 is the unveiling of the new generation BMW 2 Series Coupe. And for the first time, spy photographers were able to uncover the dashboard of the G42 2 Series. It’s looking like these new photos manifest a combination of the G2x anf F44 platforms.
Many BMW enthusiasts were relieved when the future 2 Series Coupe was announced to march with RWD unerpinnings. Despite a slight difference in size, this G42 model generation will be on the same CLAR platform as the G2x family.
Looking at these latest spy shots, the test prototype must have been the new M245i xDrive Coupe given the large-sized wheels; the M braking system; the trapezoidal tail pipe finishers similar to M340i/d – M440i/d models. Also, the overall powerful stance of the car already gives it away.
Inside, the new 2 Series Coupe will be getting a new dashboard. And its design appears to have a resemblance to the new 4 Series Coupe dashboard. And expect that only high-end premium materials will be used. The Vernesca/Dakota Cognac leather upholstery looks very upscale and stylish on the G22 and it is easily the best choice for the new G42.
Furthermore, similar to G22, the digital screen of the BMW OS 7.0 architecture seems bigger than F44 2 Series. Its overall build quality comes superior than on the front-driven Gran Coupe sibling. Adding to that, the sheer size of the dashboard.
On top of that, the new G42 2 Series’ new exterior design is something to look forward to. Some of which are: an imposing front fascia, new headlights, bigger kidneys and revised tail lamps.
It is unfortunate to have the current Convertible version be discontinued, but getting a straight-six powerplants for the M245i and M2 variants of the 2 Series Coupe is a relief. Adding to that a more efficient diesel and petrol units with 4 cylinders.
We still have a long time to wait before the finished product is revealed, but we are certain that the new 2 Series Coupe is already an ultimate bimmer much loved by the fan base.
