[Videos] First Look at the new BMW 8 Series Concept

BMW’s unveiling of the new BMW 8 Series Concept at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este signifies the rebirth of an icon that we’ve all been waiting for. Aside from being the successor of the current 6 Series family, it is the brand’s next flagship model. Check out how beautiful it is on the first-ever videos below. The design you’ll see here will be the basis for majority of the features of the production model, due to launch in 2018.

The video above shows how the nose of the new Concept 8 Series Concept is plunged down toward the road so it looks really aggressive – not like any other BMW we’ve seen so far. The kidney grilles are massive and they blend unbelievably well to the angry-looking headlights. The crease in the hood is sharp and the front air intakes are huge.

The rear features BMW’s signature “L” design for the taillights but with a modern touch. Even from the rear end, the car really looks elegant, taking so much inspiration from the original 8 Series.

“The forthcoming BMW 8 Series Coupe will demonstrate that razor-sharp dynamics and modern luxury can go hand-in-hand,” says BMW CEO Harald Krueger. “This will be the next model in the expansion of our luxury-car offering and will raise the benchmark for coupes in the segment. In the process, we will strengthen our claim to leadership in the luxury class.”

The interior features a new steering wheel with three hand-polished aluminum spokes with the rim wrapped in alcantara and red shift paddles. The center console also flows upward to house the iDrive screen that looks realy close to a production ready version. In the video below, we can all indulge our eyes in the flowing carbon fiber, aluminum and piano black trim all look great.
