The appreciation for the original E31 BMW 8 Series only grows over time. In the past, analog vehicles got more interest from enthusiasts than the new, rose-tinted glasses of E31. It wasn’t as loved when it was originally on sale, but today hits different – the E31 BMW 8 Series is being more recognized. Enthusiast Auto Group has made a video featuring the stunning BMW 850CSi in Tobago Blue, and it’s one of the best yet we’ve seen.
The specific example featured is a Euro-spec car as Tobago Blue over Tobago Blue was not available in US. Its color seems a bit odd but when you look at it hard enough, it does work on the 8er. It gives that special novelty which makes it stand out even more than other 8 Series. Inside, the vibrant blue works as well, clearing it from a boring ambiance.
And what’s more exciting is that BMW has an upgraded head unit of this specific car. The Bavarians have already created a head unit upgrade back in the day and it was called BMW Traffic Pro. This rare unit is meant to increase the value and desirability.
One of the most challenging engine BMW has ever made was the naturally-aspirated V12 engine on the BMW 850CSi. With swells of torque and sophisticated rumble, this engine surely made up for its unreliability. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and sends power to just the rear wheels.
This appears to be one of the best E31 8 Series we’ve seen, combining its rare color scheme, manual gearbox, Euro-spec, mint-condition and low mileage. The atmospheric V12 in a BMW 850CSi only makes it better. With a killer wing, polished quad exhausts and pop-up headlights, this will look like the BMW M8 we never got.
