[Video] Piston Heads Review: BMW M5 CS

Ever since the BMW M2 CS, enthusiasts have been anticipating getting their hands on the upcoming BMW M5 CS. This model is dubbed as the best M car to date, after the E46 M3. Its seamless and exquisite handling balance comes unmatched among the current M cars. More so, if the M5 acquired some of the M2 Cs magic, this BMW model will definitely be a unique and special machine. Fortunately, this video review from Piston Heads showcases the BMW M5 CS qualities. We’ll see if it’s really the car we hope it is.

On paper, you’d think the M5 CS looks is just another special edition marketing scheme. With the same engine, it pumps out an extra ten horses compare to the M5 Competition, totaling 627 horsepower. But, of course, looking at it deeper, this model gives off its own charm and truly means business.

It has a carbon fiber hood and roof to reduce weight while standard back seats come replaced with two racing buckets. Similar to the M3 and M4, it gets the same lightweight carbon fiber front seats. It also features stiffer suspension, better brakes, revised steering, revised rear diff, bespoke suspension tuning, and so much more. So, to sum it up -the BMW M5 CS is not just a marketing ploy or cash-grab M model. It’s a comprehensive overhaul of what the M5 can be.

This new video proves that the M Division’s efforts are effective. According to PH’s Dan Prosser, the BMW M5 CS is very, very good. He described it as “feels more like an M3 than an M5.”, and that’s the highest praise you could ever give. The fact that the massive and pretty heavy M5 could feel like a much smaller, lighter M3 screams impressiveness. It also just seems like a lot of fun.
