The BMW E30 M3 gives many reasons why it belongs to one of the fan’s all-time favorites. BMW’s classic M3 also has a price worthy of its fame for over 30 years. In this video, a revamped S65-powered BMW E30 M3 races with the 911 GT3 RS.
Try purchasing an E30 M3, and you’ll see that it still stands as an expensive classic in the market. Loved throughout its generation, fans admire its lightweight construction the most. However, though it comes as a compact executive car, its engine does not faze anyone. Having a light construction was just right for the BMW E30 M3’s average engine.
But in this video, a revamped S65-powered BMW E30 M3 appeared on the track. A heavily configured E30 M3 had an engine swap and raced with a powerful car. Instead of a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, it hid an S65 engine under the hood. In addition, this revamped car included a gearbox suited for the new engine. The video presents a heavily tuned BMW E30 M3 against the 911 GT3 RS.
A 4.0 liter naturally-aspirated V8 makes up the powerful S65 engine. It comes from the iconic S85 5.0 liter V10. This engine produces a generous amount of power at 414 horsepower. Also, it is the only V8 that fits the hood of the classic M3. With a top speed limit of 8,000 RPM, the engine roars until it hits the limit with a noticeable sound. But the engine weighs significantly heavier. It also comes with a dual-clutch gearbox adding to its weight. In other words, the natural weight of the E30 M3 has changed. Despite the additional weight, the new engine made the classic a real racer.
Check out the video and see the dynamics of the modified BMW E30 M3. It shows how hard it is to control the car. But it also showed a good competition with the 911 GT3 RS.
