[Video] Seasonal greetings brought to your car by BMW

In the spirit of Christmas, BMW created some special season greetings for both their customers and fans. BMW models equipped with BMW operating System 7.0 (software status 07/2020 or later) will get some holiday greetings displayed on their infotainment screen this year. However, BMW announced its availability in 41 countries only. It’s still a good start, though. Maybe next year, BMW might begin a global scale for this kind of thing.

Starting December 24, Christmas greetings will be viewable on the infotainment screens. By saying “Hey BMW, Merry Christmas”, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant feature will immediately launch the festive greeting. Simultaneously, the My BMW App installed on your phone can also activate it via the Vehicle menu. According to BMW, the message will appear for seven days starting December 24 on specific markets. However, for some unknown reasons, the Christmas animation won’t be available in Germany.

Meanwhile, starting December 31, the New Year Festive animation will be available in specific markets as aforementioned. This particular greeting comes with some fittingly festive music and a stunningly orchestrated ambient lighting sequence. After January 1, it will display a special banner in the Control Display upon starting the car. Clicking on it will take you to a New Year program of a full-screen festive animation in the Control Display.

Customers can also manually activate the New Year greetings sequence by saying, “Hey BMW, Happy New Year”, or by using the My BMW App. The New Year banner will automatically appear up to three times on starting the car and can be accessed anytime in the Messages menu, following the first activation.
