    5 Yr old 520i

Most 2nd hand car dealer, including AD, will change the worn out parts prior to sale, unless agreed upon confirmed sale. The most they will do is deep cleaning, wash and vacuum and maybe polish.

    Renew COE now?

Haha, so sad... Anyway Aliexpress is only good for parts of vehicles that are currently in production in China plants and meant for China market. Most of them are almost 100% carbon copies of those european exported models so can be quite safe to replace for non-critical spare parts and for...

Just a newbie question.... These OBD types are all trouble shoot and scanning only right? Cannot programme your ECU to do other things right?

    Renew COE now?

Travel industry is not going to recover to its pre-Covid level in the next 3-5 years, meaning that in the short term, other related industries will also be in the doldrums (tourism, hotels, F&B, medical etc) With the govt aid coming to an end, we will see more companies folding up and more will...

    Does your E60 'drink' coolant?

Wow, long ago post by me! In the end it was the coolant tank cap. The seal was worn out. Had to purchase the whole plastic coolant tank. Workshop also clever, said that since they will be removing the coolant tank to replace, might as well change some of the stuff (cant remember what) that...

    The New 5

Not saying that ADs are bad but the premium sum over the PI cost for marque rides are really suited for those who are better off economically and basically buying time/convenience (the so called piece of mind) with $$, although we still see lemons along the way, both AD and PI. Of course we...

    The New 5

Probably, but based on C&C's E200 (BMW is slightly cheaper than Merc) You would have to look at PI's prices for the 'fair' price of ANY ride, as they do not amortize the fancy showroom, 'customer experience' expenses etc, into the final price. Price = Cost of vehicle (aka OMV) + Govt taxes +...

    The New 5

If you have noticed, every model will usually be priced higher than the predecessor, even though the OMV is the same (or lower) and the COE remains constant. Previous ride E60 520i, OMV S$42K, COE S$10K, priced at S$170K lowest price. Now? If OMV same, COE up 20k to S$30K, can we expect S$190K...

Need advice on E60 523i xl.

A more than 10 year old car or mileage above 200k is perfectly fine in most places around the world as long as they are regularly maintained. If anyone has been to a car assembly factory, you will know that a car is basically a well-designed metal "frame" affixed with many components like...

Need advice on f10 523i - gearbox problem?

Yup, so far so good (touch wood) for my 7 speed 2017 passat. Get the 6 speed wet clutch DSG if its a worry, and the power/torque is much better too. (Get Bimmer for the drive and comfort!!!) ZF also didnt last me very long as I had LOTS of stop-starts in causeway jams working in JB previously

Need advice on E60 523i xl.

don't forget, other than solenoid/mechatronics (the mechanism that controls the gears), once the mileage hits 250k, may need to change all the physical gears as well = another 2.5k - 3.5k (applies to F10 as well) Forgot the name for it, is the torque converter?

Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner - Worth it or not

The salesman salary is based on the sales of the vac. Its a age old marketing strategy that they do not spend on advertisement or much marketing material or even display it at retail stores (retail shops take minimum 30% cut) profit from sales will go to their pocket and maintenance of their...

Like I mentioned, the problems came back after about 6+ months and at that time, my COE left 1 year, so no point as I did not intend to extend the COE. problem started in the 5th year (similar to your symptoms) but I procrastinated for a long time before doing step 1. Then after good 1 year...
