Dear Buddies,

I just bought a Sep 03 730ia. it is in fairly good condition, done 23000 km and has most of the options.Being new to this car, i hope members can advise me on the following;

1. Which CSA i should approach in Kg Ampang? Or should I go to PML at all since my car has no more warranty.
2. PML's servicing cost can cost heart attacks. Is it advisable to go to an ouside workshop? If so which workshop?
3. Are there any known "problems" with this model? If so, how do i solve it.

i know i should ask these questions before i buy the car...but to quote my mum, "the rice is cooked".

i am grateful for any advice. pai seh and thank you very much.

Congrats on ur new ride! Extremely low mileage for a 2003.

Bro Pingman has recently wrote a FR on his 1st servicing with PML. Check it out. That might help u to decide whether to go back PML for servicing. Me, Never. Din manage to find a good CSA.. even i did, i dun hv confidence in the tehnicians handling my ride. Some or shld i say very few here has got good experience with PML.. but who knows, u might b the lucky one. U decide.

My ride now clocks 34,000km. So far so good.. just my regular servicing every 8000km, changes to my Rear Brake pad, Micro filter, under carriage heat shield.. Thats all. nothing major has pop up. Most of the thing that need changes, your computer board will prompt you.. just remember when u are having ur servicing out of PML, make sure they reset ur computer board. I sent my ride either to J4C or BVO for regular check up.

You will love the driving experience of this fine machine.. E65.
Dun mod it.. keep it stock.:lol2:

Do join us in our mth end meetup.

Re: 2003 730ia

Dear All,

Thanks for the feedback. Since my warranty has expired, i think i'll try some of the workshops you guys recommended. if PML is that bad, then most probably any other outside workshops by comparison would be better.
it puzzles me that the senior management in PML doesn't check these threads to find out how most bmw owners feel about the aftersales service. its hard to believe that companies can get away with such services in this day and age.
i got some friends who switched from bmw to lexus. i hope i wouldn't be one of those..

Actually, I think (IMHO) that non-PML workshops make owning a BMW in Singapore just that little bit sweeter.

dont talk about the jepun 'luxury' car with toyota spareparts. if u unlucky go collect ur car during tea break at lexus customer services, u will find the CSA go for smoke break, and come back with smoke smell on him plus look like steam-steam blur-blur.

their built quality also drop terribly these years. just look at http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/other-marques/9050-my-lexus-problems.html?highlight=lexus+problem to find out.

Re: 2003 730ia

Hi, just to share my recent experience with my E66.

Heard a squeaking sound whenever I stepped on the accelerator. The sound came and go and got me very irritated.

Went down to BVO to get Mr. Wee to check this out. Finally found the heat insulator (light aluminium color) around the exhaust pipe near the front drive shaft causing the noise. Got that changed and the noise is gone.

Changed also the front drive shaft coupling, 2 pcs engine mount vibration damper, 2 pcs gear box vibration damper. Now my ride is so..... quiet, just like when it was brand new. The pick up is also more responsive and smoother.

You may want to try this. It is good value for money to have a smooth and quiet ride.

Regards.
