318i Sport Edition Fuel Consumption

the car seems to be doing very well for fuel economy. or the driver has been very gentle on the throttle. anyway, do not drive too hard before the car's mileage is more than 10000km. do drive at different speed (rpm) to promote even wear as the car runs in.

wow, you're doing very well in terms of FC indeed... 11+ km per litre. mine is abt 10 km / litre, same tyre config as yours.

must say i'm pleased with the FC of the 318, better than wat i've expected. my mileage quite high usually. so far 6500+ km in about 2 mths :p

guess i am more light on the throttle on this one than me old E36.

went above the 4500rpm for some brief instances before reading i cant do it below the 2000km mark... ;)

just to start this rolling... we are on 225/45 17 front & 245/40 17 rear.

i just clocked 1286km with a total 113.31 litres of V-Power since taking the car. so it works out

11.3494km/litre
8.81litres/100km

wau, dats so so freaking good!! my 1.6 mazda 323 gives me like 10km/l on my tiny 195 tires. :verysad: I travel 90% highway with 1 or 2 pax. Gosh, time to change my ride!! Hahaha..!!

or u could keep the ride, ditch the passengers... ;)

i wonder why PML putting such enormous tyres on the 318? cant be helping fuel consumption very much..

mistraele,

maybe they are in cahoots with the petrol companies? :)

but have to say the M68 rims are lovely. You can possibly fit 225/45 on the rear as well (on a 8.5" rim), may help fuel consumption a little...

just to keep this updated...

3600km... 347.45litres of V-Power... 60% highway & 40% city... oh and lots of Chinese New year mileage for ferrying family.

10.36km/litre
9.65l/100km

Staggered tyres look chio mah. Perhaps those who have stated their FC can edit their post to insert info like how many % of that due to highway vs urban road. Makes helluva diff.

wau, your FC is impressive despite the fatty tyres you're running on. Cool!

That is because they are following the factory spec for the 8.5J rims at the rear...

U can safely put it to 225/45/17 on the next tyre change....

In any case, the Valvetronic is really frugal to petrol consumption when compared to the rest of the stable...But it would be good not only to include the average consumption but to include the average speed as well cos that will be more indicative.

My car's consumption can range from 10.5l/100km to 12.5l/100km for average speed from 50kph to 35kph average respectively...

Piggy,

Juz for me to understand this better. If switch to 225 on a 8.5J rim, will the tyre be stretched resulting in less sidewall protection? Thanks.

Andy,

less sidewall protection ? well if the kerb is high enf or tire pressure is not enf, what kind of sidewall protection also will kena.

sometimes Debris on the roads or track, will also kena. :silenced:

just my 2 cents.

Yup... That's correct.....

I had a big nail pierced thru my rear 245 tyre. Had to order a Continantal Sports Contact 2 at $320. Is there anywhere else I can get it cheaper in future, just in case...
